The story of this artist is truly special. At ten years of age she began training as a singer and went on to develop a beautiful coloratura voice that was destined for the opera stages of Europe. Just prior to her departure after training under a prima dona from the Metropolitan Opera, Madame Polyna Savrides, June contracted a serious illness which prevented her from leaving and eventually from singing altogether. The nine major surgeries and anesthetics ruined her voice and this beautiful voice remained silent for over twenty years.
It was by sheer accident that she and her colleagues discovered her voice had miraculously returned. She was with a friend in a recording studio and he asked her to help him interpret a song. Just that simple, June obliging, thinking she could just quietly sing and basically help him. Instead, out came a beautiful voice, clear, warm, rich, a voice that shocked everyone in the studio. The response, "Record it!" She was shocked and unbelieving in the beginning but after 3 successful CD''s, June has realized, as has everyone else, that the voice is back and now she wishes to share the gift she has been given. Audiences have loved her "Christmas Together" CD and Hawaii has loved her "Return to You" (Ho''omana Hawaii), the first song she sang which was to remind people of how beautiful Hawaii was and that they should return to this romantic island. Her sensational voice is now being enjoyed all across North America and soon to be released in Europe. Since the story began while on a visit to Hawaii, June has chosen to continue to work with the Hawaiian artists who made this all possible. Her albums always promote not only herself but the musicians she works with as it is her desire to encourage and enhance their careers for she feels that success is only because of many people and not just because of one.
The variety in the music is enabled because of the very special capability she has to play with the texture and sound of her voice from singing the rich and beautiful Handel''s Largo magnificently, to the gentle and seductive La Vie en Rose then to the happy, almost Western feeling Tomorrow. Her songs are enhanced by the artistry of Pierre Grill on the piano together with the sounds of his L''Escargot which includes the romantic gypsy violin, soprano saxophone, trumpet and of course, the guitar. Music of this nature is bringing back the true romance and beauty, from the tango to the waltz to reflective, thoughtful moments, all providing true pleasure for the audience.
This is a unique artist, who perhaps because of her suffering and her strength in overcoming, is now able to bring us a touch of life and joy that has often been missing in music recently.
