With a sophisticated playing skill and a grown and sexy voice, Jhai Signatures’ “Afterwards” album is a contemporary collection of smoothed out tracks, built on a collage of R&B, Hip Hop, Gospel and Jazz instrumentation. This singer/songwriter/producer makes his debut on his own Amped Music Group label with this 2005 release.
Jhais’ musical blend is being embraced by internet listeners, radio stations and consumers across the R&B, Smooth Jazz and Adult Contemporary audience. His potential hits (Self penned) include "Remember When", "Afterwards", "In The Key of J" and the HIT SINGLE, “Passion In Your Eyes” to name a few. His interests include doing a series of productions and duets with such greats and inspirations as Mary Mary, Toni Braxton, Keisha Cole, Will Downing, Faith Evans, Chante Moore, Jaheim and others.
Jhai has been involved with music since the age of 12. Born and raised in Brooklyn, the Aquarian listened to early successful artists such as Lionel Richie, Shalamar, DeBarge, Jennifer Holiday, Phyllis Hyman and Babyface (favors his writing and production talents). He also contributed to the growth of Hip Hop in his community performing as both emcee and dj. He studied piano midway through grade school and then pursued voice and song-writing in high school.
Upon graduation, he continued performing as a gospel pianist. Jhai also seeked vocalists to perform some of his original pieces. During his 20s'' he would find work as a session keyboardist at several Northeast recording facilities. He also found opportunities to meet recording artists Tamia, Toni Braxton, Cissy Houston, Will Downing and Tasha Holiday.
Then as faith would have it, he would meet and talk with his unknowing mentor, Babyface at album record signing in NYC. After leaving Mr. Edmonds with a demo, he continued developing his writing and production skills. In the late 90''s he would meet Chuck Gamble (Executive VP at Philadelphia Records) who compared his crooning skills to that of legendary Billy Paul of Me and Mrs. Jones fame.
In the turn of the century, Jhai saw an opportunity to learn about touring as he traveled with now 2005 Reggae Artist Grammy Winning Toots and the Maytals. With over 20 years in the music industry, this album is just another step in his evolution. Jhai now owns the Amped Music Group recording facility and Adcona Publishing and works with a close group of key industry personnel.
Jhai is an accomplished business owner, songwriter, pianist and producer. We all look forward to the next BIG thing from this gentlemen.
