Kevin Jeremi Thomas, better known as JeRemI, was born January 28, 1982 in Gary Indiana, where he was surrounded by music from his family at an early age. See his mother sang in multiple gospel groups, his older cousins had there own gospel band, and his uncles played the sax, and bass guitar at church. Music wasn’t the only thing that surrounded JeRemI, God, Jesus Christ, was introduced to him at birth. So it was only natural that JeRemI try to find his knack in music, and in God. So he tried singing in the choir at church. At first, the choir was fun, but something was missing so he went and sang for his cousins in their band, and that wasn’t working either. JeRemI always liked rap music, but knew that his church home at the time would not accept it. So he listened to rap at home, at school, and everywhere else, but church.
JeRemI was about fourteen years old when his family moved to Minnesota. Being new to an area, he wanted to fit in so rap told him how to dress, how to be cool, how to be popular. JeRemI began to love rap and everything it represented, which separated him from everything he was taught about Christ. See God was setting JeRemI up, through his mistakes, and being caught up in peer pressure, he could not see what god had in store, but as time progressed so did the will of the lord. Reunited with God after high school, JeRemI was ready for combat. He had heard some gospel rap, here and there, so he figured why not try it. A lot of the music that JeRemi initially recorded lacked substance. The music had all the words, and messages from a person that was born in the church, but no relationship with god for himself. So God told JeRemI to put the music down and get to know him. It has been about a year now, and God has done a new thing in him. JeRemI has received the green light to minister the gospel again, and is in the process of completing his solo debut album called “THE SUBSTANCE”. God has placed a hunger in JeRemI’s heart to educate the youth about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In JeRemI’s words “I’m not a rapper, I’m a preacher that uses the tool, not libel to use a beat to make you move, I’m reaching for the spirit to draw you near, and the flesh so far back it disappears”. JeRemI’s home church is SHILOH TEMPLE INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES, WERE BISHOP RICHARD D. HOWELL JR IS THE PASTOR. (1201 West Broadway AVE N. MINNEAPOLIS MN 55411). JeRemI currently works as a Sunday school teacher, altar worker, and a key facilitator for the focus 13 program (youth Program) at Shiloh, he also attends Northwestern Bible College in Roseville Minnesota.
