IL ROK

Where I’m from

Born and raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin, mainly on the Southside is were I lived for most of my life. I grew up bumpin Gansta Rap thanks to N.W.A, and then whole West Coast. I started kickin free styles at school when I was 12 yrs old. I started layin down full tapes of constant freestyles wit my homies at our basement studio, the original “Dungeon”. We would take our tapes every where, and ROK any party on the South Side. Around this same time I started to get into the East coast, about 1993. I found my home. I switched up my whole style, and added the intellect in with that Gangstaizm, and started to develop my name. I then earned the title IL ROK.

What I do

I’ve ROKED a lot of different venues, all over South Eastern Wisconsin. Places like the ALE House, The Hyatt (Pre-Millinium party), Summerfest, Mike’s bar, Johnny’s Yellow Rose, Mary’s on 70th. Mitchell’s, Spirits, Passions some spots in Madison, all over the Eastside underground parties, and any party I could touch a MIC at.

Lets get going

In late 2002, myself and my click decided to role with solo acts. I dropped on an album called “Famlee Funk” “Tha Funkalation” wit a few tracks, and then began working on my first solo album with my boy Pio, at the Dungeon once again. In the early stages of the album we dropped a demo called “ILWAUK SWING” (the sticker disc). We sold, and gave away about 400 discs through out all of Milwaukee. After that we got serious with recording, and before you know it we had 40 some odd trax. Then we dropped another Demo titled “Eat N Write” (the blue disc). We offed a good 1000 copies, most as give aways, but we earned a lot of stripes with it. All the time of cutting trax, and putting out these demos we were mashin plenty shows all over. With every show, our act just kept getting better and better. If we weren’t the headline, (which was rare) we ended up being the main act before I stepped off stage. We compiled about 100 trax before making our picks for the album. When all was said and done we titled the album “MY SIDE OF THE TRAX”, and dropped it.

The Rap Up

The Kutz on this album are hot. I keep that smooth flow, wit a twist of the south in it. You know I got to keep it Gansta, but keep it real all in the same breath.

Well that’s my story, I hope all that read this get a chance to listen to the album, and feel what it is I’M sayin.

AIIGHT, CHILL
