Details:
Ingemar E. Nilsson is born in Gothenburg on the west coast of Sweden. He has been a song writer from his early teens, in the beginning heavily influenced by song writers like Buddy Holly, Lonnie Donegan, Roy Orbison, Carole King and then, later on, by Woody Guthrie, Dock Boggs, Robert Johnson, Lightnin´ Hopkins, Bob Dylan and Swedish folk singers. Out of this potion he has produced his own, very unique style of singing and playing. He has formerly recorded three albums - "Blod & aska" (Blood & Ashes, 1978), "Himmel av järn" (Sky of Iron, 1985) and "Gårdagens rester" (Yesterday´s Leftovers, 2000) - and has now "returned" with the CD "Samma kärlek, samma regn" (Same Love, Same Rain, 2004).
These fourteen songs are a road movie through the landscape of mind and memory. The music is mainly based on (American) folk themes and 60´s Pop. The setting is mostly acoustic, with electric instruments added. The lyrics have been compared to Bob Dylan´s and Leonard Cohen´s. Surrealistic, dreamy, full of both anger and love. Though Nilsson is a guitarist and pianist his CD could also be described as an organ-grinder´s lament. Sixty-five minutes of unheard musical stories. "Strong music, strong lyrics ... Pitch-dark songs" are some of the critics´ comments.
