Details:
Strikingly different traditions have figured in Curt Steinzor''s musical life.  In addition to his experience as a performer of European Classical, Romantic, and contemporary music (clarinet), Steinzor has played English and Irish traditional music on tin whistle and recorder in contra dance bands, and clarinet in ragtime/Dixieland and jazz groups.  He has also studied and performed the classical music (gamelan) of central Java and Bali.  Likewise, Steinzor''s sensibility has been shaped by European Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music.

These influences can be clearly heard in THE SNOW QUEEN.  For example, gamelan rhythms pervade “The Hobgoblin” (Track 2).  “Storytelling” (Track 3) and “The Town” (Track 4) are inspired by Scandinavian folk music. “The Robber Forest” (Track 8) begins with a medieval tune from 600 years ago, morphing into a pulsing techno-dance track.  Throughout, Steinzor''s soundtrack is constantly moving to eclectic musical formulas, deriving their energies from the boundless creativity of the world’s authentic musical traditions.
