Details:
The first musical collaboration between Daniel Crommie (Group Du Jour, Saturnalia Trio) and Glyn Havard (Jade Warrior, The Edge) features the distinctive voice and poetic lyrics from Glyn and Daniel''s atmospheric instrumental adventures utilizing exotic acoustics and cutting-edge production. Glyn sings and plays bass and electric guitar, Daniel sings and plays flutes, electric & acoustic dulcimers and keyboards, Jon Miller plays electric & acoustic guitars, Paul Evans plays alto sax, Michael Maldonado plays tenor sax, Larold Will plays Theremin, Brian Davis whirls the bull roarer, Paul Parker plays fretless bass and electric guitar and Bo Parker plays tongue drums. Recorded in Portland, Oregon and Bryn Mawr, Wales by Daniel Crommie & Glyn Havard. Art-pop songs and atmospheric excursions inhabit this adventurous collection - started after the two became aquainted online in early 2009. The project had its gestation as a side project Daniel started with Leslie Gray (Saturnalia Trio) showcasing electronic pieces infused with violas and flutes – and quickly morphed into two album projects when Glyn accepted the invitation to participate. Daniel sent Glyn (who lives in Wales) MP3’s of sketched-out songs and Glyn sent back vocal and bass parts along with a few of his own semi-completed compositions to get additional production treatment (flutes and keyboards, etc.) Jon Miller played most of the guitars (acoustic & electric) while Paul Evans (Saturnalia Trio) and Michael Maldonado played saxes, Larold Will played Theremin, Leslie Gray (Saturnalia Trio) played violas, Paul Parker (Group Du Jour) played electric guitar and fretless bass, Bo Parker (Group Du Jour) played tongue drums and Brian Davis (Pink Martini) whirled a bull roarer. A second album of all-instrumental material from these sessions (minus Glyn) will be released at summers end titled “Direct Current”.
