Almost two years in the making - Kings of Push''s debut album is a major achievement for the band.
The process started in February of 2008, when KoP met producer and engineer Dave O''Leary at a WMFO radio gig at Tufts University. O''Leary was engineering the show that night and was floored by the talent, songwriting skills, and performance of the four young college kids. It was in the cramped live-room of this college radio station that a great friendship and partnership was born.
After years of producing, mixing and performing - both in his native Ireland and in the United States - O''Leary went back to school at Boston University''s Center for Digital Imaging Arts. Luckily enough for KoP, O''Leary needed to find a good local band and create a 3-song demo for a final project at CDIA. Engineering at the WMFO radio station was a perfect gig for O''Leary to evaluate prospects, as he got to hear, watch and interact with dozens of college bands. His search for a solid band stopped with KoP''s performance at WMFO.
The band was packing up its gear after the gig when O''Leary explained his offer to produce a 3-song demo for them. Confused and a bit skeptical, KoP quickly jumped on the opportunity to make music in CDIA''s state-of-the-art studio with such a knowledgeable and experienced producer.
Almost two years later, the 3-song demo has turned into a full-length album, and the brief partnership turned into a lasting friendship. After countless setbacks, revisions and hours of hard work, KoP is ready to deliver a debut album that they are extremely proud of. After one of the greatest learning experiences of their lives, the band is extremely thankful to O''Leary and all the great, talented people who helped in creating this album.
