If you want to read about a band that went down in a blaze of glory, keep reading because Whipt is that band. In 2002, before Whipt was signed by Urban Anger, they rented a small practice studio in Fullerton, California. They shared a building with about 15 other bands, each band having their own 10x10 insulated-with-old-dry-carpet practice studio. As the dedicated drummer, Dusty was practicing late one night, and rather than driving home, he decided to sleep on the floor in the studio. He awoke in the early morning to a voice in his head telling him to get up. He immediately awoke to a room filled with smoke and fire. As anyone would do, he freaked the “F” out. Luckily, the reflection of the fire on the singers Marshall half-stack gave Dusty the bearings he needed to get out alive. Of all the bands that shared the building, no other band lost as much as a guitar string. Whipt was the only band to suffer a loss. In fact, every piece of Whipt’s equipment was burned to ashes, except for the symbols from Dusty’s drum set, those actually melted to the ground. Enjoy this album, because these songs are on fire!
