REVIEW: "Mythica''s latest [CD "Live is Good"] pushes all sorts of musical boundaries, from the band''s more traditional Celtic sound, to progressive rock, Hawaiian music, and even a form of ''60s psychedelic South American surf rock called chicha." - Community News

Armed with an arsenal of instruments, Mythica takes listeners on a sonic rollercoaster ride. Influenced by traditional and contemporary Celtic and World music, and by rock artists like Paul Simon, Led Zeppelin, and Tori Amos, Mythica writes songs that are inventive but accessible, fresh yet familiar. Mythica''s popularity is due in part to their songwriting ingenuity. Self-dubbed "Celtic fusionists," the members of Mythica are in their element while fusing Celtic with genres like French Breton, funk, and chicha (South American surf rock).

"All the members of Mythica come from very diverse musical and ethnic backgrounds, and we like to explore them through our music," says lead singer Melissa Cox. "There is always a strong Celtic undercurrent that runs through our songs...sometimes that current carries us to other musical lands. In a world that is becoming increasingly diverse and multi-racial, it''s only natural music would evolve along with that."

Mythica utilizes the hurdy gurdy, mandolin, a variety of woodwinds and bodhran in addition to non-traditional instruments like the electric guitar, bass, and drum kit to produce a musical melting pot tied together with powerful vocals, addictive melodies, and provocative lyrics.

Mythica tours nationally, and since 2005 they have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the Celtic, folk, and pop/rock markets, including the Spin Doctors, Sister Hazel, Black 47, the Makem Brothers, Celtic Crossroads, Tom Chapin, Young Dubliners, Catie Curtis, Maggie Sansone, and many others, and they have appeared at some of the largest Celtic and World festivals in the country.

Mythica was dubbed Best Band in 2006 by 93.7 FM WSTW, and Best U.S. Celtic Fusion Band in 2007 by Celtic MP3 Music Magazine. In 2008, lead singer Melissa Cox was awarded Best Singer/Songwriter by Spark Magazine and Best Musical Folk Artist by Delaware Division of the Arts. Cox was also a finalist in the 2004 Song of the Year Contest for her song "elijah, elijah" (found on their "Dangerous Little Monster" album).

Mythica has released three critically-acclaimed albums: "Dangerous Little Monster" (4 song EP, 2006); "Vicarious" (9 song LP, 2007); and "Live is Good" (9 song live LP, 2009).
