This album has been a long time in the making. Some of the songs were written when I first moved to Topeka in 2006, and some of them as recently as the day we recorded them. I had hoped to build my own band but had no luck. I decided finally to do the recordings with myself and drummer Sam Hopper, with whom I''d played in another local cover band.
After a few failed attempts to do some recording in his basement, I decided it was time for a trip to "the cabin" in Minnesota, where we would spend a few days doing nothing but recording (and drinking pot after pot of coffee and chain smoking it turns out). We accomplished our goal, and are happy with the turnout. I added the bass tracks and did the mixing right here at home in Cubase, and voila.
Is it the most perfect album ever? No. Is the the most amazingly mastered album ever? No. But for me above all else, the songs each convey the message I intended, and I really couldn''t ask for more. These songs talk about things that are very personal to me and I hope you can maybe identify with them a bit. In some of the songs'' cases...I hope you don''t identify....some of them aren''t so happy!
