Details:
Richard O’Flynn is an Irish songwriter and performer based in Liverpool, UK. This exciting artist draws upon indie, alternative and pop influences using contemporary recording techniques to support his classic songwriting. His soaring voice, catchy melodies and emotive lyrics are at the center of his uplifting performances.

Dedicated to brothers, sisters, cities and lovers, Richard’s debut album is titled ‘Albeit Nothing’. The album is a reflection on life, loss and society and is an interpretation on how it is to live in this world. His songs (which are both joyful and tragic) are based on Richard’s personal experiences and observations of other people’s lives.

The songs have been heavily influenced by Liverpool and the raw energy, life, joy and pain that is apparent everyday on its streets. The result is a melancholic reflection on the ways in which this world can both create and destroy, carrying some people forward and leaving others behind. This album is about the contrast of light and dark, joy and pain, hope and despair.

Richard recorded ‘Albeit Nothing’ in Wales with Norwegian producer Snorre Bergerud and engineer Corin Evans-Pritchard in late spring 2010. The album was mixed by Christian Hildebrand in Liverpool and was mastered by fellow German Robin Schmit during the summer. The result could be described as a fusion of Celtic Creativity, Viking Courage and Teutonic Precision!

Biography

Richard O’Flynn grew up in Cork on the south coast of Ireland. He discovered his love for music at an early age and started publicly performing his own work at the age of 15. Richard continued to perform and release music in Ireland until he moved to Liverpool in 2006.

Richard studied music in LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) and during his time there he worked with artists from around the world and performed in a number of bands.

In 2007, Richard was awarded a BBC Performing Arts Bursary. Richard used this funding to purchase studio equipment which played a critical part in the recording of his debut album.

Richard graduated from LIPA in 2009 and was awarded the ‘George Furrie’ Memorial prize from Sir Paul McCartney for achievements in song writing.

For the last year Richard has focused on performing as a solo artist and writing and recording his debut album. He was signed to Treasure Monster Records in early 2010 and this has culminated in the release of his debut album ‘Albeit Nothing’.
