This innovative Portland quintet brings on experimental musical psychedelia and alien sensibilities, but does so without skimping on old fashioned rocking. Cloud of Suns puts on a hell of a show, starting with aetheric effects-laden numbers like “Caution” and moving on to thoughtful and emotional gems such as “The Reins” and finally amping up their performance with up-tempo crowd-pleasers like “Headless.”
Veteran rocker Robb Benham joins his decades of musical experience with Tim Burke’s versatile guitar work, Jake Michels’ unstoppable bass, Greg Tetherow’s eerie vocals and Jim Mattingly’s intricate drum lines to create a band whose haunting melodies and lyrics are at once unique and strangely familiar. Cloud of Suns offers some of the tightest and most creative music around, and Portland music connoisseurs are urged to check them out – you won’t be disappointed.
