What lies across the Drewson Sea? Well, Mushroom Island, Einstein''s Brain and a chap called Walter amongst other things.
This is the first digital release from The Don Bradmans. Their genre-spanning music - which they call Chap Rock - draws on diverse influences such as Vivian Stanshall, Ray Harryhausen, Frank Zappa, Mike Patton and the state of mind you may find yourself in at 3am on a Saturday night at a festival. The music is lively and boisterous, funny and charming.
The DBs are well-known as a compelling live band, as anyone who has seen them at Glastonbury, Bestival, Secret Garden Party, Shambala festivals (amongst others) will readily testify - on Across The Drewson Sea, the producer/engineer team of Brandon Knights/Dan Lake has skillfully captured the energy inherent in a DBs performance.
Each Don Bradman fully utilises his superlative vocal skill and a variety of instruments on the album: banjolele, guitar, sax, drums, bass, keyboards, melodica and an array of whistles, kazoos and sound effects, with additional cello parts by Bela Emerson.
"The Don Bradmans come across like a 21st-century Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, with added festival kudos. It’s upbeat music with humour, aided by some great playing and an easy-going stage manner" Latest7, Brighton
