MP3 Handtruck - Tape Travels

Quirky pop tunes and progressive rock for skilled dancers.

10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Progressive Rock, POP: Quirky

Details:
Formed in 1995, recorded "Tape Travels" on the ol'' 4-track in 1996 (and released it that year), still trying to soldier on. Actually I started Handtruck as a solo project, with slide shows and playing to backing tracks I had pre-recorded on my antiquated 4-track. After the last live Handtruck line-up fell apart in Oct. ''98, I decided I''d play solo and spent several months working up songs I could sing by myself, like "Deacon Blues," "Let''s Make The Water Turn Black," and "There You Are" (by the Flaming Lips).

Not exactly James Taylor, but it was stuff I enjoyed. I played exactly one gig like that (opening for Hattiesburg pals Thirteen) and decided that wasn''t really for me. Then I hooked up with Buffalo Nickel in April ''99 and started learning the country genre, which is harder and way more enjoyable than I ever thought it would be. But I''m a rocker at heart, so I want to get some of my stuff out to the world.
