Chris Higginbottom has come a long way from playing on an imaginary organ sitting on the church pew, but his love for the Lord and ministry has continued to flourish. Higginbottom traded in his imaginary pew organ and began taking piano lessons when he was eight years old.
Since then, Higginbottom has been playing for church services. For the last 16 years, he has played the organ for The Anchor, formally Revival Tabernacle, and at one time, directed the Youth Choir for two and a half years.
"Every service I get to play means something special. It’s a privilege and honor to play for Him. What a responsibility to help usher in His presence and lead people to worship," Higginbottom explained.
When he is not at home with his wife Linda or his two children Caden and Sheldon, Higginbottom is walking down the path God has been preparing for him. Chris is the tenor for The AQUA Touring Group and has traveled extensively with the quartet. Nowhere is it more apparent that Higginbottom has a great love for the Lord and his ministry than on his album Higher Place.
"My ministry is my music and my dream has been to create an album that ministers to people. My dream is to let my ministry and my music be a blessing to people and draw them closer to Christ and I pray this album does that," Higginbottom said.
My favorite song on the album would be, I Want to Know You, Higginbottom said. For Higginbottom anything that the Lord has brought him through is only an experience that draws him closer to Christ, so that he can know Him better. ''I Want to Know You'' is a prime example of where Higginbottom''s heart is.
According to Higginbottom, "It is all about listening to God and allowing Him to move you in His direction, rather than your own direction." Higginbottom states that too often we want to do it our own way, rather than His way. "It’s tough learning how to wait on the Lord, and keep the faith even when everything seemed to be falling apart," Higginbottom explained. He learned that if the Lord says it will be OK, then you just have to trust in Him that it will be, even if you cannot see the road ahead.
Higginbottom''s desire is to share with people his own personal experiences while walking with the Lord Jesus Christ as a Christian, and help others understand what it means to walk closer to Christ. "This album is a reflection of how I feel in my life, and I want to share it with everyone". I just hope that I can touch somebody through this album, and be a blessing to somebody''s life", he said earnestly.
