Details:
Close your eyes and Hilary''s voice will sing you to sleep while the raindrops fall gently on your windowpane... Okay, cheesy for sure, but not that far from the truth. Her voice will take you in. You are getting sleepy... very sleepy...

A little bit folk, a little bit country, and a little bit of that special something. Hilary Grist has a gift for melody and understated lyrics. Heart-felt and laid back, her music embodies the sweetness of Sarah Harmer and the vulnerability of Ron Sexsmith. Sparse episodes of lust, regret, bravery, love and doubt - this girl wears it all on her sleeve with unselfconscious warmth.

A musician since the age of four, Hilary Grist grew up in Maple Ridge, B.C. singing along to the Beatles in the family station wagon, playing classical piano and writing her own little songs. At 17 she was accepted into the renowned Jazz Studies Program at Capilano College in North Vancouver where she studied voice, piano, arranging and composition in depth. After a brief stint of performing jazz professionally Hilary hung up her black cocktail dress and returned to exploring her songwriting. These days, whether flying solo or playing with her talented band mates, Hilary can be found enchanting audiences at coffeehouses and small clubs around Vancouver.

With her first EP, “On My Way,” Hilary isn''t looking back... The 6 songs were recorded “live off the floor” with drummer/producer/engineer John Raham (Kinnie Starr, Po'' Girl) and released quietly in the summer of 2005. Hilary, on vocals, piano, rhodes and guitar was joined by a stellar cast of some of Vancouver''s finest musicians: guitarist Dave Sikula (The Inhabitants, Crash), bassist Patrick Metzger (Lesismore, Headwater) and drummer Dan Gaucher (Rabnett 5, Doppler Defect).

So lean back and breathe a sigh because these songs are gems, you feel like you''ve always known and loved them and it''s great to have them around again.
