"The new CD quickly tables any discussion that Jeon is in any way behind her peers. In fact... [it] reveals a player with a sure touch and a penchant for stepping beyond early mainstream influences..."

- Bob Young - Boston Sunday Herald

Pianist Hey Rim Jeon - a native of Seoul Korea debuts a reflection of her stay in the United States; documented on this recording of original compositions and jazz standards, capturing both - association and song.

Hey Rim Jeon & Friends; recorded May 17-19, 2002, portrays a deliberate yet spontaneous delivery by some truly capable musicians. Jim Allard - soprano and tenor saxophones; Adrian Ross - trumpet; Sheldon Steele - acoustic bass and J. Curtis Warner Jr. - drums...

Hey Rim Jeon, a graduate of both, the internationally acclaimed Berklee College of Music, and the New England Conservatory of music, came to the United States having already been recognized as an accomplished classical pianist and winner of numerous competitions in her native Korea. In 2000, while a student at Berklee, she received the piano department''s prestigious "Piano Chair" award for jazz performance. In May of 2004 she received her Master''s degree in Contemporary Improvisation from New England Conservatory.

Having studied with piano greats Ran Blake, JoAnne Brackeen, Michael Cain, Laszlo Gardony and Ray Santisi she exemplifies the benefits that come from a well-rounded exposure to a diverse group of top jazz stylists.

Hey Rim, has been a regular feature at Maison Robert''s Restaurant and Jazz Café in Boston along with stints at the Zeitgeist Gallery and the Western Front in Cambridge USA. These included performances with other band member ''friends'' George Garzone, John Lockwood, Lance Van Lenten, Joel Gonzales and Mike McAllister to name a few. She has also performed in some of Seoul''s top jazz venues, including the main stage of the inaugural Jarasum International Jazz Festival 2004, where she was billed alongside such luminaries as Dennis Chambers, Chris Minh Doky and Hiram Bullock.

An educator as well as a performer, Hey Rim shines equally as well in the classroom, teaching on the faculties of Berklee''s popular City Music program, for urban youth, the Five Week Summer Performance Program, the Boston Arts Academy High School for Visual and Performing Arts and the Roland Hayes School of Music. She has appeared as a guest clinician at New England Conservatory, Boston, and Seoul Jazz Academy, Korea.

" Hey Rim ... a very complete command of the piano, an intelligent
sense of performing, and a broad view of music... I know she has a
fantastic future as a musician in front of her." - Michael Cain (https://www.tradebit.com)
