eric volcano is one person who started making recordings for his first album in January of 2002. He is a former member of the LA-based rock band the Rattlesnakes, which died at the end of 2003. eric is the kind of guy that is just too retarded and ill-spoken to convey any ideas rationally to bandmates, usually ending up shouting about stuff that has nothing to do with whatever the subject matter was or is. So, eric volcano was born out of the idea of doing everyone a favor and just doing all the parts himself, for better or worse.
friendly fire is his first album. It is more or less about losing something special you never wanted to lose, holding onto it so hard and desperately that you in a sense destroy the thing you are trying to save, and almost completely erase all the good times with the new awful ones you inevitably made along the way trying to keep the good times. The album was recorded in El Cerrito, CA over a period of about five years from his bedside. Numerous noises can be heard throughout the record. Some are his family members. Sometimes it''s his dog. Sometimes it''s the tv.
