Details:
Ed and Red''s Band has its roots in the late 70''s, when 12-string guitarist Ed Osenbaugh met electric guitarist Larry ''Red'' Stoltenberg and the two began playing music together. In a few years Ed moved to Seattle and Red stayed in Ames, Iowa and started Redzband, a hard-rocking band that performed classic rock covers from the 60''s and 70''s. The band was extremely popular and played in the central Iowa area until 1990 when Red moved to Colorado.

Cut to 1995 when Red moved back to Ames and hooked up with local musician friends to rock the area once again. Ed had previously moved back to Ames and soon was jamming with Red, working up tunes that Ed had written alone or with Scott Strait. The duo performed a few gigs and soon Ray England was asked to provide some tasty percussion. Now a trio, the band continued to play gigs when soon bassist Ron Carson came on board, making the band a foursome which continued to gig in the area. Eventually Ron had to leave due to family concerns and former Redzband sideman Neil Smith was recruited to take over bass duties.

The quartet began recording their first CD in the summer of 1998, completing several Osenbaugh penned tunes. Further recording was done in the following summer, after which enough tunes for a CD had been recorded, including a moody, atmospheric version of Dylan''s "All Along the Watchtower". Mixing was attempted using analog equipment, but was eventually scrapped in favor of using a digital audio workstation (computer and software). The mixes were completed in Red''s spare time, in between gigging and working a day job as a computer programmer. The CD was finally mastered and, with cover art produced by Red, was ready to go in late 2002 (I know, seems like a long time!).

The band hopes to begin recording their next opus sometime this year. Plans are to include several tunes written by Stoltenberg as well as those penned by Osenbaugh.
