Emma & Joyce Beaton live on beautiful Vancouver Island, in British Columbia. They are founding members of the Vancouver Island band, Celtic Chaos.
They play traditional music on cello, claw-hammer banjo and fiddle. They have regular sessions at their home and it is from these sessions that the idea for the performing group, "Celtic Chaos" evolved, based on a similar session which takes place on the west coast of Scotland, near Kyle of Lochalsh.
Celtic Chaos'' first CD (no longer available) raised over $10,000 for cancer research and The Beaton Duo decided to record their own CD with some of their musical friends which they have made in their travels to the States, Scotland and beyond.
They are joined on the CD by such world renowned musicians as Robin Bullock, Steve Baughman, and Mairi Campbell and David Francis of Scottish duo, The Cast. The CD refllects the Beatons'' interest in Scottish, Swedish, Appalachian, French-Canadian and Irish music, both new and old.
The CD has been well received and is a fundraiser for cancer research. Listeners can enjoy great music and also know that they are helping others at the same time.
