Amanda Bocchi is 20 years old hailing from Atlanta, Georgia. Her debut album was released in November of 2006: Cereal Box Murder. Amanda has been playing guitar for ten years and is currently a jazz guitar undergraduate student at Kennesaw State University. Her provocative style is a brilliant combination of songwriters like Tom Waits and her voice hints at jazz vocal legends like Billie Holiday and Sara Vaughn. Sticky Summer nights in Georgia’s heat is where Amanda’s songs spawn life. “I’ve lived in Cartersville since I was 13, a small town compared to the suburb of Atlanta I grew up in. When I was 15 I begged my mom to let me perform—of course the only real places to play were in smoke filled bars with plenty of booze. She relented, and never want to do anything else!” Cereal Box Murder—her debut title—threatens modern expectations of singer/songwriters with lyrics that bite and sting the ears of her listeners and surprises new fans as a girl who can really play the guitar.
“When the street’s of my small town get hungry, they cry out with a lead tongue. And it’s the paper dolls with good intentions, who do a lot of damage to the street’s that don’t belong.” This line from the track, "Escape Music" is undeniably related to Amanda’s outlook on the small town life. “It’s true, I derive a lot of inspiration from Cartersville, it is a lovely small town where everyone is in everyone else''s business!
Amanda is enthusiastic and terribly entertaining, while persuading all music lovers to remain longer to listen. Her lyrics are soft memories on everyone’s lips.
