ROCK: Americana, ROCK: Roots Rock

Details:
The CD marks the first collaboration between vocalista-extraordinaire Reina G Collins and master-songwriter Rob Barteletti under the experienced guidance of producer and guitar-guru Terry Robb. These roots-inspired, dark, hopeful, witty, poignant, lyrical songs were recorded in August at Dennis Carter’s Falcon Studios in Portland.

On the CD, Collins sings all but one of the songs, while Barteletti contributes his muse to most of the compositions (and his voice to the final track). The CD also features the musical talents of Robb (guitars), Tony Furtado (dobro, dojo, banjo), Bart Ferguson (harmonica, background vocals), Nick Peets (background vocals), Peter Boe (piano), Paul Hirschmann (guitars, mandolin), Jeff Minnick (drums), Nancy Ives (cello), Bob Baker (violin), and Rob Busey (bass).

Collins spent her first thirty years in Florida where she played in pop rock band Multi Color House and then changed direction toward jazz and Brazilian music with pianist composer Kamau Kenyatta. She then crisscrossed the continent on solo road trips, landing in San Diego and then in Los Angeles in the early 90’s. She got to know the Rocky Mountain region while touring for a year with a country rock band led by Billy Farmer.

Collins’ rambling led her to Teton Valley, Idaho, her home from 1996-2005. There she established Driggs’ first retail music shop, Big Hole Music. Those years were spent playing music with notables such as Greg Creamer, Jeff Newsom, Ben Winship, Ted Wells, David Bundy, Marshall Davis, Jerry Linn, and Michael Hurwitz. Winship assisted Collins in making Kitchen Sink, her first solo CD (also available on cd https://www.tradebit.com). Collins got the itch again and relocated to Portland in Fall 2005 where she had the good fortune to cross paths with songwriter Rob Barteletti.

Barteletti has been writing songs for several years and several ears: from folk to bluegrass to country to blues to pop to rock to jazz. Along the musical road, he has written nearly 200 songs, finally releasing a CD, Old Sombrero, in 2005 (also available on cd https://www.tradebit.com). Earlier in 2006, he formed an artistic partnership with the diva-caliber Collins.
