Jordi Alcázar is a guitarist from Barcelona, Spain. His music features jazz, blues and rock styles, but classical music, as well as funk and flamenco also have an influence in his music.
He started playing the piano at the age of eight, but he soon realised that he best identified himself as a guitarist. Thus, his interest turned towards classical guitar. However, the musical influence of The Beatles made him focus on studying modern music. To improve as a musician day after day, he has studied in different cities, from Barcelona to Los Angeles, and has attended several music institutes and academies, such as El Instituto de Música y TecnologÃa de Madrid (The Music and Technology Institute of Madrid) and the LAMA (Los Angeles Music Academy) in Pasadena. He has played with different musicians, such as Chema VÃlchez, Frank Gambale, Andy Timmons, Dave Hill, Pat Martino, Ron Affif, Jeff Kollman, Dave Samuels Bill Fowler, Donald Edwards and Joey Tafolla, among others.
After initially playing in different bands, in 2003 he joined the rock band Mr Rooster, with which he got very good criticism for the album ‘All That Noise’. He left the band after an extense tour, to concentrate on his own projects on instrumental music. Among many other projects in which he has taken part, we should mention the publishing of his didactic book ‘Pulsation and Development’ (‘Pulsación y desarollo’), the creation of his music school ‘Coagrama Music’ and his recording studio ‘Coagrama Sound’, where, apart from producing several records, he has recorded ‘Chromatik Colors’, his first instrumental album. It includes eight jazz-based songs, in which he has mixed different styles, such as funk, flamenco and blues. He has had the collaboration of great musicians on the present Spanish scene, such as saxophonist Xavier Figuerola, drummer David Gómez, bass Javier MartÃn, percussionist Nan Mercader, trumpeter Julián Sánchez, pianist Moisés Sánchez and guitarist Chema VÃlchez.
