Rising from the industrial Midwest, The Maji is one of the fastest growing live acts the jam rock scene has to offer. With influences ranging from the Allmans to Zappa, The Maji stir an eclectic pot of alphabet rock-n-roll that’s interesting to the palate and satisfying to the appetite.
Formed by Dayton-bred brothers Dino (bass, vocals) and Norman (keys) Dimitrouleas in 2002, The Maji became an established force in Dayton’s music scene from the band’s inception. The additions of Josh Miller (guitar, vocals) and Rob Brockman (drums, vocals) fleshed out the band’s sound to create a landscape rich in inventive improvisiation, psychedelic rock and soulful blues.
The Maji have shared the stage with some of the jam scene’s best and brightest bands including Umphrey’s McGee, Tea Leaf Green and ekoostik hookah, and are the founders and hosts of the popular Harvest Jam, a three-day festival held in Ohio every Fall.
2006 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for the band, with an August release of their debut studio effort and two headlining nights at the 2006 Harvest Jam, which will feature Tea Leaf Green, Particle, The Breakfast and more at historic Legend Valley Music Center.
