Joel Malizia began his infatuation with music at the age of 4 when he started taking piano lessons. Through several moves, Joel lost his piano and needed a more portable means of expression. His love affair with the guitar started when his uncle bought him his first guitar at the age of 16. Joel played in the Thimble Blitzwood project before meeting his mentor and friend, Tony Sloan. Tony introduced Joel to Latin music, and together, they discovered the art of Flamenco. On a magical trip to Costa Rica, the two friends formed the Chabo Brothers Band. Upon their return to the United States, they recruited other members and began a two-year tour of bars and music festivals around the state of Florida. When the Chabo Brothers broke up to pursue individual projects, Joel began to work with several different musicians. He is currently a solo artist. His music is upbeat, folky Americana fused with international influences.
