Imagine combining the vocal DNA of Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, with that of Pat Benatar, then adding it to a 16 year old singer, songwriter, and actor with a delightful personality, then you''ll have a pretty good picture of exactly who Morgan Mayer is.
Morgan''s first professional recording at age 11 was scooped up by local radio and led to the recording of a six song EP of original Christmas songs that sold out its initial pressing of 500 copies in the first month of its release. At 13, and armed with a FACTOR grant, "51 Cards" hit #1 on the NMC''s sugar pop charts and found its way on to the 2003 Flatland Festival CD. Live performances followed: a main stage show at the Flatland Festival, a live CBC Radio broadcast with well known Canadian Jazz singer Karen Plato and a performance for HRH Prince Charles.
Following a year of working with industry professionals such as Juno award winner Jason Plumb, Morgan was introduced to the Music Industry with a showcase performance at the 2005 WCMA''s. Just 15, Morgan was honoured to be described by Plumb as "one of the most talented people I have every worked with."
In 2006, two important things happened to Morgan: first, her 16th birthday and subsequent "wicked sweet" driver''s license, and second, becoming the youngest recipient of a $10,000 recording grant. Wanting to make an album that would force her to grow, Morgan joined forces with Saskatchewan''s hottest rock and alt rock producer, David j Taylor (Despistado, Sylvie) to help her write and record her first full length CD, iF i Ruled The World. With songs such as Average Girl, Everything and it''s first single Hang On Every Word, it gives listeners their first taste of what Morgan proudly calls "her" sound.
