Katrina Abramo is a musician from Portland Maine. She moved to Maine in 2001 and shortly after, found her musical niche in Portland, where there was plenty of support for local artists. She was able to devote more time and well spent energy into her music.
Subject Bias, a local Portland based band, signed her on as a bass player and backing vocalist. There she gained lots of performing experience and made connections with other artists, all the while continuing to write and perform her own music at open mics and other local venues. A fellow musician, and band member, Frank Hopkins, took her on as a recording project for his studio, Sweet Dream Recording. There they recorded Katrina’s Album "Katrina Abramo".
Katrina Has played out as a solo artist as well as with a backing band consisting of drums, bass, piano, violin, and guitar. Her CD release show was a hit at Acoustic Coffee, Portland, marking the ending of a long recording process and the beginning of her success. Her voice has been known to quiet a crowd or two. Her visual songs use metaphors to explore universal and relatable emotions and experiences. She is more than a voice or lyricist; her music and playing are an integral part of the experience.
Katrina and her band have played in Portland at venues such as The Stadium, Acoustic Coffee, Bubba''s Sulky Lounge, and Blue. In New Hampshire at The Dover Soul and Cafe on the Corner. With the band Subject Bias, she has played many different venues, including The Asylum, Space Gallery, and The Big Easy in Portland to Medowbrook NH, to The Brass Cat in North Hampton MA, and The Continental NYC.
