Wanda''s Biography

Rev. Wanda Perry-Josephs is an inspiration and an encouragement to all who know her. A dynamic woman anointed with hope, vision and purpose. A faithful wife, mother, and educator. She is also an ordained Local elder and the Co-Pastor of Living Word Ministries/Brockton AME Mission.
A native of Boston, Massachusetts she is an accomplished, vocalist songwriter and recording artist with a substantial track record, including RCA Records, Boston International Records, Nehemiah Records. Hope and A Future Productions, and now Josephs Enterprise and Living Word Ministries are works that she and her husband have been building and developing over some years now.
She has songs in musical productions such as Jack''s World Children’s Musical, (by Mone’t Ledbetter-Glaude), Moses, Gospel Opera, by Walter Robinson. There are churches, schools and educational programs singing her songs. She has done extensive background work for years for many as well. Wanda has also sat on various boards and committee’s for production projects. She has worked with many artists, songwriters, producers, directors, and play writers, as well as pastors and ministries over the years. Rev. Josephs has a track record of songs and videos on the top of the charts, nationally, and internationally. She considers it an honor and a privilege to be used by God to serve in the many capacities. She is a firm believer and advocate of collaborative projects and teamwork.

In 1985, RCA introduced the trio “9.9” (Margo Thunder, Leslie Jones and Wanda Perry) with their first album and hit single “All of Me for All of You,” which bolted to the top of the Billboard charts in the US as well as in Europe. With stardom on the horizon for 9.9, Wanda began to hear new lyrics; words such as, “How are you giving me glory in the lyrics that you sing?” In probing and finally finding the answer to the question that would ultimately change her life, Wanda made the decision to move on. Armed with a new commitment to God and a new song, she left the group in 1987 in answer to a higher calling. Since that time Wanda has been serving in her community. She has endeavored to reach the outcast, visit the prisons and the sick, and work with the youth. Pastor Ray Hammond has described Wanda as a “wonderfully gifted musician who works hard at building relationships.”

Wanda began recording gospel music as a songwriter and guest soloist with Baystate Choral Chapter under the direction of Freda Battle in 1990, “I Praise Your Name, Surely Goodness and Mercy”. In 1992 she signed with Boston International Records which started a gospel division called Nehemiah Records in Bloomfield CT. At that time made her debut as a songwriter in the gospel industry with her first solo project “It''s Not About Wanda,” which soared to # 1 in Hartford, CT., and she toured with Black Expo. She has continued to share her original compositions, a soulful yet versatile repertoire, with various ministries, outreach organizations and rallies, youth organizations, Boston Public Schools, including political rallies for a number of mayors and government officials. Liz Walker, Boston news anchor at WBZ TV-4, said, “When she sings, her rich, smoky timbre speaks of pain and strength, sweetness and struggle.”

As Wanda continues to sing, teach and preach in various settings, more people are becoming aware of God’s love and forgiveness, which is available to all. Jazz recording artist Walter Beasley, who has worked with her and followed her career for years, aptly described her anointing when he said, “the voice of Wanda Perry-Josephs is one of the most powerful yet tender instruments I have ever heard. The listener need only hear one phrase to experience the depth and breadth of her amazing gift” Wanda Perry-Josephs is a dynamic woman with an anointed spiritual depth. Rev. Dr. Ray Hammond and Rev. Dr. Gloria White-Hammond had this to say, “it pleases us to share such a marvelous talent with an audience who we are sure will be tremendously blessed as well as encouraged.”
Wanda believes scripture is the platform from where one launches their vision, these scriptures are a catalyst in Wanda’s life: Psalm 25:4-5; Isaiah 41:10/43:1-13; Jeremiah 9:11; Mathew 6:33 I John 5:4-5, Hebrew 10:35-36, Ephesians 6:10-18, 2Corinthians 10:4-5.
