"My Daddy may now make an announcement..."
Dan Klass is a stay-at-home dad/shut-in, who used to be a comedian. Now, instead of hitting the nightclub stage, he tries to make ends meet acting in commercials while raising his two kids under the flight path at Los Angeles International Airport.
Thank goodness his wife has a decent job, and thanks goodness he started "The Bitterest Pill" podcast or he would probably have lost his mind a year and a half ago.
THE BITTERST PILL VOLUME ONE: UNDER THE FLIGHT PATH is a hilarious collection of Dan''s favorite stories from the first year of the acclaimed podcast that The New York Times calls "Intelligent," "Endearing" and "Sublime."
The stories deal with the realities of a failing acting career ("Snicker Toupee"), deciding what TV shows you can stand to have your children watch ("Disney Death"), celebrity sightings gone awry (the hysterical "Meg, Bebe & George" and "Rod, Louie & Traci Lords"), and childhood traumas in the changing room at school ("English Williams & American Richards"). The collection wraps up with two gems: Klass'' tribute to Gil Scott-Heron with "The Bitterness Will Not Be Televised," a jazzy sampling of lines from stories that didn''t make the disc, and the transcendent "So, You Don''t Even Live Around Here," a story that seems to be about someone smashing into a Volvo, and ends up being about karma. Smashing good fun.
