Demetrius McKay AKA Surgeon was born in Brooklyn NY. As a child, Surgeon has always been interested in the performing arts. He would spend his time writing short stories and rap songs unknowingly perfecting his craft at an early age. As a military brat Surgeon has experienced living in different parts of the United States including spending some time outside the country living in Germany but was always was able to call NY home but at the age of 12 his family relocated to the South Jersey area. It was around this age in which Surgeon really began to develop his love for hip-hop music. Some of Surgeon''s earlier influences in the hip-hop game were Notorious B.I.G, KRS-One, Nas and a group called Cross Movement.
For a long time, Surgeon wrote songs that he would only let his family members hear but he also began to develop his skills in the art of free styling. Surgeon would rap for his friend’s rhymes that were not even written. Even though most of the time he was playing around this is where Surgeon got a taste of performing and believed he could be an emcee for real. Surgeon connected with one of his friends who was a budding producer and began to perform at different venues. Signing up for talents shows and church events anything in the area that was available where he could be heard. After Surgeon graduated High school he believed it was time to take his music to another level but wasn''t sure how to make that happen. One day Surgeon was at a record store in Philadelphia and ended up having a conversation with someone about his music. Though that person, Surgeon got connected with two other artists and the three of them would form the group known as Da Blood.
As a part of Da Blood, Surgeon traveled the tri-state area and New York performing songs at various schools, churches and hip hop venues. They released a 5 song self titled EP in 2003, and after a brief hiatus was able to release the group’s only album titled "As real as it Gets in October of 2005. Da Blood as a group received numerous acclaim for their album but Surgeon knew at some point he would have to venture out and release his own project. Surgeon continued recording songs for Da Blood and has worked with local artist on various projects. Though Surgeon loves working with other artist, he has plans to bring the heat to the winter of 2010. Surgeon will be releasing his first solo LP titled "Surgical Procedures" The Album is hip-hop to its core and features various artist. Surgeon''s goal is to re introduce who he is to the world and believe this album is the first step in that process.
Outside of music Surgeon is an easy going laid back type of person as long as you stay on his good side. In his spare time Surgeon enjoys activities such as bowling, playing cards (spades), video games and is a very competitive person. He enjoys playing and watching sports and as far as he is concerned nothing beats a home cooked meal.

These songs are pretty bangin''. The production on the tracks are solid, I enjoyed the interaction and synchronicity between female and male on "Talkin2You" and "Cook Food" The lyrics bring the truth about Christ and His relationship with us, combined with our flaws in Him. Really good stuff. I will be playing your tracks at the events forthcoming. I''ll call you soon(I''ve been real busy) but I would like to feature you at one of the venues I do, heer in Brooklyn.
