MP3 Lon Jones - Let's Decorate A Tree
One winter''s day, long ago, in the midst of the Christmas blues, I sat
down and wrote this song, a lovely, hopeful song tinged with a drop of
sadness, a prayer that the Christmas spirit flows through us all year -
and so it is.

Details:
I recorded this song at ThunderCrow Studio in Portland OR in January 2009.
My ancient buddy Jeff Woodcock played bass and the “little tin soldier”
snare drum. I did all the rest of the tracks – guitar, mandolins,
recorders, glockenspeil, and vocals. I overdubbed my voice as a trio
which, for better or worse, sounds a bit like one of those folk groups
from the early 1960’s I used to listen to as a kid. The instrumental
portion of the program, which by the way is 100% acoustic, sounds a little
like an or from the Italian Renaissance with a jazzy flavor, or maybe one
of those good old mandolin orchestras popular in America long before even
I was born.
After getting about 1000 requests from people who raved about how this was
the best Christmas song ever, I am finally releasing it to the public. I
tried pitching it along with other recordings long ago in the pre-digital
era but it didn’t fly with the recording executives of the 1900’s.
Now! We have the internet. We are in charge!
Here it is world - Let’s Decorate A Tree - HAPPY LISTENING!
Let’s Decorate A Tree
let’s decorate a tree
hang it full of pretty things
light it up and then we’ll sing
old time memories reappear
we’ll make it christmas in here
let’s call up all our friends
and sing some christmas hymns
we’ll help all the tiny tims
we’ll have a drink of christmas cheer
we’ll make it christmas in here
january turns to may
may you remember christmas day
never let your giving cease
fill every day with peace
let’s forget the winter cold
let’s forget we’re growing old
may we remember as the story’s told
the child of long ago
let’s decorate our lives
light ‘em up and let ‘em shine
give of ourselves all the time
this way hope will reappear
we’ll make it christmas all year
this way hope will reappear
we’ll make it christmas all year
