Details:
Although born in Germany, George Egosarian, was raised in Syracuse, New York where he attended Syracuse University. His mother was an avid opera fan and studied as a soprano while a young girl in Russia. She encouraged George musically and he took violin and piano lessons beginning at age 7. However, he didn’t adapt well to any regimentation - he kept trying to create his own songs much to the consternation of teachers.

After being, especially, inspired by the British groups of the 60’s he began playing in high school rock groups and eventually formed a short-lived, but popular group at Syracuse University named “The King Bees” with several experienced musicians at school. Amazing - they actually recorded singles in a New York City studio. In his junior year George formed the group “Hard Water” made up of students from SU and Hobart. As luck would have it he was fortunate enough to meet Mark Doyle, who encouraged him to join Free Will along with Joe Whiting, Tom Glaister and Bill Irvin. Initially, George played bass, then rhythm guitar, and contributed numerous original songs. The group began to emerge as a very unique and popular group and, eventually, as Jukin’ Bone recorded two albums for RCA and toured the country.

George left the group to follow his own vision for music and experimented with several groups including DreamTiger with Frank DeFonda, Terry Vickery, Lee Tiffault, and Andy Mendelson. Again, George as always contributed numerous original songs. During this period he also had the good fortune to meet varied luminaries such as composer Philip Glass and poet Gregory Corso. He now committed himself to write more seriously and actually had poetry published by the famed Provincetown Poets.

Soon George was writing and recording new, well-received songs in the Caribbean and Boston, but not realizing genuine success he parted ways with the realm of music. While living in the Caribbean George had also dabbled in business ventures with friends in the Virgin Islands and evolved a complete tangent to his past by forming a company which addressed resort marketing studies. He found he had a knack for developing analytical projects relevant to demographics and economic sectors. He achieved financial success, but could not stop writing and playing music.

Fortunately, Mark Doyle reappeared in George’s life. He was asked to join old Jukin’ Bone bandmates Joe Whiting, Tom Glaister, and John Demaso to appear at the Sammy Awards in Syracuse New York. The electrifying reunion performance led to a mini tour, several major shows with Steppenwolf and The Spenser Davis Group, and new recordings. George and Mark maintained a musical discourse over these past years. When he decided that he needed to finally develop a musical statement representing his many years of songwriting George contacted Mark and both embarked on a journey reviewing about 35 years of songs. Through Mark’s masterful musicianship and sensitive production they were able to convey a bit of the creativity George has brought to all of his musical endeavors. “Songs Over Time” represents a sampling of George’s songs and his unique guitar playing. A real first here is that George is tasked with singing for the first time. Typically, he strictly wrote for others. Though George prefers that, indeed, other singers perform his songs - he presents himself well. Of course, now the problem is that the experience of working with Mark again has him re-immersed in music. Over time, there will likely be more songs.
