Oakland’s Desoto Reds are pleased to announce their 6th release, “Roaring Across the Infinite Plain,” coproduced by Bill Racine (Mates of State, Flaming Lips and many more). Led by songwriter and community college English professor Alex Sterling, Desoto Reds is “cerebral pop”: melodic 60s-anglophile-indie, songwriterly and literate, with sweet vocals, a tambourine track on every song, a cover of David Bowie’s “Kooks,” a would be/should be hit written for the age of Obama (“Dr. O”), and Alex’s obsession with Tommy making this release more sparse and vocal-driven than their previously quirky organ-and-Moog sound.
