HAPPINESS HAS A SOUND

A happy collision of influences blend from a guy raised in the Bronx and a southern mountain girl.

“It was twenty years ago today. . .”
After a gig singing on a cruise ship, Lucinda was looking for an original rock band to sing and co-write songs with. Coffee in hand, she poured over the Public Notice-Music section of the Village Voice and saw: "SINGER WANTED! For rock/pop band. Have players & rehearsal room."

The number led to a boy from the Bronx, and the rest as they say, is history.
The band has gone through a number of transformations, names, and locations. Besides making music, they also made a couple of people, i.e. their kids —which may have slowed down the production of music, but enhanced the experience.

Ball & Chain started as RANSOM which played some important bars in NYC; The Bitter End, Kenny’s Castaways, CBGB’s, and a bunch of other places not as well known. The original group was Jon on bass & vocals, Lucinda lead vocal & rhythm guitar, Eamon Ireland on lead guitar & vocal, Dan Tramon vocals and keyboard, and anchoring us all was Wayne Pionzio on vocals and drums.

Jon and Lucinda married, but life unfortunately peeled the band apart as the various members got hit with challenging events. Eventually Jon and Lucinda moved south, and had a couple of babies. Through it all the music in some form or another continued whether it was a pick up gig here or there, playing a Farmer''s Market, or adding music to a theatrical show. Jon kept writing, and they both kept the music going, or maybe it was the music that kept them going.

With two great teenagers and a crummy economy, the music has called them back under the aegis of Ball & Chain. Who the ball is and who the chain is changes day to day, or minute to minute. But the music never fails to transform the players and the listeners to that place where it''s okay—if only for that moment. Check us out ever more at https://www.tradebit.com
