Glimr is two friends making music they enjoy, recording their ideas deep in the guts of a particle acclerator. The only rule they have is to not allow anything that sounds generic to creep into their music. Beyond that, well, you can hear for yourself...
Take a bit of Pink Floyd, swirl in some Swervedriver, sprinkle in some Nash the Slash with a side of Zepplin, mix it together in a particle accelerator with some Bay City Rollers and the Beatles and ask "what would Pete Townsend do?" and maybe you can imagine Glimr. The problem is that sometimes Foreigner show up in their heads, and sometime they''re channeling the Smiths, and they ever know what''s going to happen musically on a day-to-day basis ("how about an electric violin today?"), so their music is always an adventure. "Glimr seems to reaching back in time to the 70s looking to recreate the rock-opera glory days fostered by The Who and Pink Floyd. They succeed at creating this vibe despite that fact that this album qualifies more as a short than a feature according to its length. I like the sound on the album, the guitar solos absolutely sing. Not that they have to because the lyrics are beautifully sung, taking there time, wrapped around the excellent instrumentation. It''s enough to make you wish for a longer album, hopefully this won''t be too long in coming."
