MP3 The Courtesy Line - Windsor Road - EP

The band specializes in good old fashioned powerpop who perform quick punchy numbers full of that wistfulness from the early 90''s alternative era. Their music is marked with memorable melodies and tight, thick instrumentation. A crisp indie sound.

Details:
The Courtesy Line is a 5-piece indie rock band from Baltimore, Maryland. Formed in the summer of 2006 as a 2-piece acoustic duo, Mark Baldwin and Michael Cheman wrote songs in the backyard of Baldwin''s parent''s home in suburban Maryland. Joined a few months later by Wayne Ward on bass, it became clear to the three that a drummer would be needed to take the band in a more versatile direction. Coincidentally, Mike Borlik was found on a craigslist post by Cheman. Borlik had been known by Baldwin and Ward since high school due to his involvement with a handful of musical projects that had crossed their respective paths. Keegan Mills was brought on to add keys and backup vocals for The Courtesy Line''s first performance and appeared on stage a few times with the band until it was clear that Mills offered something indispensable.

The members of The Courtesy Line come from a diverse musical background, fueling each other''s creativity in ways that are totally unpredictable and have lead to an amalgam of musical choices while songwriting. They have managed to blend seemingly different musical styles into a coherent mixture that works. The Courtesy Line have a sound that lends itself to a broad range of listeners. "Windsor Road EP", is evidence of this fact. As the follow up to 2008''s "Arrivals & Departures," "Windsor Road EP" presents a more polished sound, featuring more dynamic songwriting.
