Details:
In 2005 , Nickel, relocated to New York City after spending almost eight years in the local Miami scene with his hip hop band, The Linx. His decision to go solo and return to the Northeast has proven to be most rewarding, setting up a foundation for a new and exciting chapter in his career, as a solo artist, and joining up a new group of underground MC''s and producers known as Money Hungry Ba$tard$. Since putting out his first solo release the April 2007 mixtape, “Loose Lips Vol. 1,” Nickel has been on a relentless pace of writing, recording, producing and performing. He soon followed up with his first solo LP, “The Journey of Plato the Orphan,” which he put out independently in early 2008. The album was received well critically and copies were purchased by fans from across the world.

Nickel has lived a nomadic lifestyle, performing in cities all around the country. He has built followings in New York, South Florida, New England, California, by doing live shows and continuing exposure through the internet. Nickel’s travels have extended outside of domestic boundaries. If he is not in New York recording, or on the road performing, it has almost become commonplace to find that Nickel is traveling the globe. These tendencies almost seem to go synonomous with Nickel’s main message in his lyrics, which is freedom of spirit. In late 2008 Nickel released his first music video, “Impossible Feats,” which he filmed in the mountains of Macchu Pichu, Peru. This was the first single from his mixtape follow up “Loose Lips Vol. 2 (The Un-Sampleables).”

The second edition of Nickel’s mixtape series, “Loose Lips Vol. 2.” was conceptually unique, sampling some of the most famous songs ever In 2009, the mixtape was downloaded for free by fans all over the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America, which strengthened Nickel’s global following. Nickel released six music videos which can be viewed at https://www.tradebit.com ... It was at this point Nickel began working on one his most exciting projects, “Tragedy & Comedy.” The new album, which is now available online, was built around one jam session that he organized, featuring seven well respected jazz musicians from the New York scene. Nickel conducted the jam session, cut up the music into funky beats, and began writing and recording his best work yet.
