The Uprising surfaced from the northern shores of Massachusetts in 2007 performing songs written by the well renown nationally touring act Michael Bernier. The original three members at the starting point included Michael Bernier on acoustic guitar, lead vocals and djembe, Mark ‘F’ Fiorentini on the drum kit and timbales, and Ryan ‘RyBomb’ Bernier on bass guitar. Since then the band has grown into a five piece, roots driven collective with the additions of Mikey Moore on lead electric guitar and Katie Berlent on saxophone. Although the band is driven by the lead vocals and acoustic guitar playing of Michael Bernier, there is a serious amount of tasteful musical dynamics present within each performance. Bluesy guitar riffs, break downs for thumping bass lines, whaling saxophone solos, entrancing hand percussion séances, and uplifting harmonies are to be expected from this Boston based Organic Roots Rock n’ Roll Assembly.
This musically diverse combination has made its mark in the north east United States by consistently putting on high energy concerts filled with finely crafted songs, dynamics, tribal drum jams, and crowd involvement. Their stage presence is huge, professional, and positive. It is no surprise that they are being booked by Live Nation and selling out venues likes the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA.
The band’s stage crew and designers compliment the band by creating an impressive backdrop for the show that is full of standing banners, large format art pieces and stage props.
The band''s first full length studio release, Do Not Write To Me Here, has been heard on over 225 radio stations across the United States and Canada. It is very good music.
