Details:
San Diego singer-songwriter Laura Roppé has released her sophomore album, “I’m Still Here.” The album was produced by Matthew Embree, the frontman and lead guitarist of indie rock sensation, Rx Bandits (whose music is featured on the latest iteration of the popular video game, Guitar Hero.). Laura wrote all the songs for the album during and immediately following rigorous chemotherapy and radiation treatments for an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2009.

“I’m Still Here” has received a glowing reception: Audiences are cheering for Laura’s celebratory music video, “George Clooney”; Billboard Magazine considers Laura “an emerging artist who has demonstrated strong online fan engagement”; London radio has already begun airing tracks from “I’m Still Here”; respected UK music magazine, Maverick Magazine, raves that “I’m Still Here” is a five-star, “must-have” album (February 2011 issue); and influential music blogger Wildy’s World has named “I’m Still Here” as Number 13 on its list of the Top 60 albums of 2010, saying: "Roppe is the comeback kid; not only kicking cancer to the curb but remaking herself as an artist in one of the most brilliant and emotionally naked artistic turns of 2010. Roppe jettisons the glitz and polish of her debut album for a depth and emotional honesty that is startling and welcome."

Back in 2008, when Laura left her successful legal career behind and rocketed onto the San Diego music scene with her first album, “Girl Like This,” high-profile radio shows and a London-based record label immediately took notice. Within days of signing her record deal, however, Laura was devastated to learn she had an aggressive form of breast cancer and immediately underwent surgery and seven months of chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

When Laura’s cancer treatments finally ended in 2009, "Girl Like This" was nominated for Album of the Year, and her song, "Float Away," won Americana Single the Year at the Los Angeles Music Awards in Hollywood, California in 2009. Laura launched a tour of the UK to promote “Girl Like This” and film a music video on the White Cliffs of Dover in England for "Float Away" (with a renowned video director whose credits include videos for Paul McCartney, Lenny Kravitz and Annie Lennox), and her music found a home on BBC radio, including BBC Radio 2 (with Terry Wogan), BBC Merseyside (with Billy Butler), BBC Wales, Manchester, Sheffield, and many others, landing as high as No. 5 on the Amazon UK chart in 2009.

In 2010, Laura wrote a memoir called Woobie about her musical life adventures, and the book has been signed by a top literary agent in the U.S. for submission to major publishing houses in early 2011.
