The "Bambi Walk" started as a Bellarmine college stunt, when students would park at the Bambi Bar, have a drink, then set out to walk as far as possible north on Bardstown Road, stopping at all the bars along the way for a drink. The distance is some two or three miles to the last bar on Baxter Ave, (which is an extension of Bardstown Rd.), a place called Baxter Jack''s. Few, if any, make the whole trip. The song was written to be singable by regular folks and easy to play on guitar. (Note: as the song suggests, not all bars are happy to see ''Bambi Walkers,'' particularly closer to town, as everybody gets really, really drunk.)
