The band was formed in Oslo, Norway - April 2009, but after a slow start, the band''s lineup was modified.
Two members left the band, and the remaining three, (Karlsvik, Moen and Befring), launched what soon became a creative cataclysm.
Moen, (who originally played drums in the band), took the role as lead singer and creative manager. He started writing the band''s first songs, and the list of material quickly surpassed the number of songs the band members were able to rehearse at that time.
After a few weeks of rehearsing to a drum machine on Moen''s laptop, the trio was happy to welcome drummer Anders Nordheim to the group, and the band recorded their first song, In the End: Nothing.
The ever-increasing complexity of Moen''s songwriting demanded a second guitarist, and the search ended with Snorre Sjaastad joining the group. His contributions to the band are displayed through complex noise solos and hardcore strumming, adding more substance to Detergent''s sound, and further developing the band''s repertoire.
The band utilizes progressive rock, grunge and post-rock with a twist of trip hop. As if Tool, NIN, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Portishead were to combine efforts.
The debut EP; CHASE MY HEAD is a mix of their most aggressive songs.
