Meet the nine best high school rock bands in the state of Maine. They are competing in a statewide competition called The Off-Ramp: Exit 26 sponsored by Reindeer Records, producers of the highly acclaimed Rock-Off competitions since 1983.
The Off-Ramp takes qualifying high school bands on a six-month journey filled with music industry challenges, including Songwriting, The Recording Studio Experience, Marketing, Live Event Production and Music Video Production. “The Rock-Off” meets “The Apprentice.”
For their Songwriting task, bands were required to write a song entitled “I Scream At Walls,” which they were free to creatively interpret as long as it captured the youth experience.
For their Marketing task, bands must now introduce their fan base to the concept of digital distribution, motivate them to visit https://www.tradebit.com and generate as much online revenue as possible in streams and downloads of their particular version of “I Scream At Walls.”
It’s all part of a bigger picture called R.A.M.P. (Reindeer’s Alternative Music Program) that is raising money and awareness to create, produce and implement a music industry-based curriculum for Maine’s Alternative Education students. This is a unique, exciting and engaging curriculum that allows students to earn academic credit for studying Songwriting, The Recording Studio Experience, Marketing, Live Event Production and Music Video Production.
