Details:
Eddie Cain Irvin’s newest album, Eight Minutes Before Dawn Breaks, is full of colorful imagery mixed with transcendental and material ideas. “I like rhymes that twist themselves into rhythmic patterns” says Irvin.
Irvin’s lyrics focus on wordplay and double meaning. His music is full of life, optimism, and love. Along with spiced up clever phrases that keep your mind moving along with the beat, Irvin crafts a musical playground. His lyrics are fun and spirited, but they also carry a heavy meaning. This exact characteristic gives each listener the ability to interpret each and every song in a very intimate way.
“life floats by like we swim
and time is long and growing thin.
you be her and I’ll be him
your love is mine”
During his senior year at James Madison University, Irvin signed with the university’s 80 One Records. While at JMU, Irvin opened for Copeland (Tooth & Nail Records), Guster (Reprise Records), and the Pat McGee Band (Kirtland Records).
Eddie Cain Irvin performs rhythm-hungry piano pop rock: lush with harmony, loaded with energy. His live show reflects the fact that he loves what he does. “I’ve always been humming along, making harmony. It’s always been in my bones,” remarks Irvin.
“sailing on serenity
melody speaks to me”
The concept behind the title, Eight Minutes Before Dawn Breaks, is based on the fact that the light from the Sun takes eight minutes to reach Earth; as a result, we see the Sun as it was eight minutes ago. Irvin reflects on this concept saying, “the world we are experiencing daily is not straight up reality. We experience the past in the present.”
An overall positive message with bright assurance is exactly what Irvin lives, sings, and builds on Eight Minutes Before Dawn Breaks.
“whatever gifts you’ve got,
take ‘em and run”
