Proclaimed as a great debut on the young Polish jazz scene ‘Hello’ is designed to be an experimental multimedia project, where improvised music coexists with the improvised animated image.
Performed, ‘Hello’ is in fact a unique mixture of the sound and visual experience, juxtaposition of two worlds that need time for their existence: a live music and an animation… This time, spent on listening or experiencing live ‘Hello’ is the time of reflection, time of fun, it’s a good time!
Lucas Lechowski, the creator of the ‘Hello’ project, is a composer, violinist and guitarist. An alumnus of the Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland.
Although a great lover of jazz, Lechowski started his career as a classical violinist, participating in two elite European orchestras: The International Youth Orchestra Academy in Bayreuth, Germany and The Young Austrian Philharmonic in Innsbruck, Austria. He toured with these orchestras all over the Europe, playing the most revered symphony halls, including the famous Wagner’s Bayreuth Festspielhaus.
As a young man, active on the European jazz scene, Lechowski has performed numerous Jazz Festivals and almost all of the Polish TV and radio stations. Finally, his deep love for jazz lead him to the United States, a journey that has helped him to understand his beloved jazz even more. The opportunity to collaborate with jazz greats, Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer, Urszula Dudziak, Carl Grubbs, Garry Grainger, and Tony Bunn has been a great joy and an even greater challenge, from which Lechowski has emerged with a heightened ability to improvise, and a more extensive knowledge of harmony—the two essentials of jazz—which make his compositional workmanship broad and flexible.
His musical language and composer’s palette consist of many others genres other than jazz and classical music. His motto is to penetrate the music deeply, look for the unrevealed connections between the music genres, to create new hybrids and musical entities; to go beyond existing boundaries:
“I’ve been involved in music since my childhood in Poland, having studied and played every genre from baroque to electronic fusion. Over the years, as I have explored these different styles of music, composition has , for me, become as much a desire, as an avocation; as much an intention to contribute to the world of music, as an inspiration to create music for its own sake.''
After recording ‘Hello’ and several other instrumental albums, the time came for the vocal music: ‘It was always my goal to create the vocal music, where the message expressed by lyrics complements the message expressed by music’.
Lechowski is currently working on two original albums, one of which represents a juxtaposition of modern music, poetry and the voice of the streets of Baltimore, the city in which he currently resides.
