The last time the Ibererfamily located in Sweden had a performance or project all together was in 1993 playing bach, händel, brahms and mozart at a recital in the skogvaard auditorium at the Malmoe Museum.
The entire Ibererfamily is a very big one especially on Alex´s father´s side Herbert with many relatives in Austria, Holland, Germany etc so its´not easy to gather all the members of the family for one big event all together. But it has happend in the past during the 80´s when Alex grandfather Opa (Franz) Iberer assembled all the relatives for a concert/event in Graz, Austria.
The Ibererfamily consists mostly of classical musicians, teachers, and academical people but Alex was influenced by many different musical styles when he grew up. His Parents, Gunilla Iberer was a concertpianist before in the 70-80´s but still teaches classical piano and plays ragtime, boogie, and 50-60´s rockn roll. She is a member of Gunhild Carling´s Big Band that plays New Orleans jazz. Alex dad Herbert is a retired flute-teacher and a classical fluteplayer who was a member of Lunds Cityorchestra and the Malmoe and Vienna Symphonic Orchestra. Herbert also played piano in a swing/evergreen jazzband called "Fenix" that toured scandinavia back in the 60-70´s. When Alex was a kid he used to go with his dad to his work at the Lund´s School of music and take drumlessons for Alex´s then old drumteacher Helmut Sitar and play with the flute-ensembles held by herbert that played alot of latinamerican music. Also at home Alex was also influenced by listening alot to latin,afrocuban and brazilian music. His parents played him records with artists and songs like: "tico-tico",Jobim,Lambada,Chucho Valdez,Cacao Lopez,Ruben Gonzalez, Stevie Wonder, Elvis, Gene Krupa, Art Blakey and the messengers, Dire Straits,Roy Orbinson,herbie hancock, aswell as classical music and 80´s pop! Alex got his first jazzrecords from his parents when he was 10 years old. Those were Art Blakey and Max Roach "Duett", Legends of Jazz and the best of Gene Krupa.
Alex sister Isabelle Iberer is a former topclass tennis player and she also sings and write her own songs in the styles of Rnb, Soul and has always been interested in music, however she is not working as a musician or teacher.
Alex came up with this idea for a new recording project that why not make a familyalbum that contains some musical influences from all the members of the family for the past 30 years!
The Story of The Island of Iberer album is about the future and global warming forcing all the members of the ibererfamily to seek new homes for themselves since their homelands have been completely destroyed. Stranded on a Island after a planeaccident the Ibererfamily tries to start a new life on this lonely and unknown place in the caribbean sea. .........
