“Shimmy” is being released as a single because it is a completely different style than the Celtic Ballads and traditional songs that Jill Poulos has formerly recorded (see her album “Beneath A Jeweled Sky”). This swingin’ country western song was the result of Jill and her husband spending the day roaming the beautiful hills near Shandon, California during the peak of the wildflower season. The golden fields of daisies seeming to “dance” in the morning breeze inspired the song’s phrase “shimmy with the daisies”. With the upcoming celebration of their 25 years together “Shimmy” became a song reflecting back on the elements that kept their relationship fresh and alive.
Eric Williams and Brynn Albanese who both played on the “Beneath a Jeweled Sky” album lent their talents to this project. Eric produced and arranged the music. He also played all the guitars, drums, bass, keyboard, and percussion on “Shimmy”. His music along with vocalist Helene Robillard gets the toes tapping. And add in the unique style of violinist Brynn Albanese (well known violinist for Cafe Musique) and this song will inspire many to “dance away the daily grind to our own melody”. Jill hopes the listener will also by inspired to take the time to relish the spontaneous moments of joy and celebrate the simple things in life that come along. After all, aren’t the simple things in life what we really need?
