This album is very dear to my heart. Being the first official compilation of my original music I think it kicks off my recording career very well. The title, Love Isn’t Happiness, comes from a monologue in the play The Circle by William Somerset Maugham. The general plot of the show revolves around a woman deciding whether to stay with her husband or to run away with another man she truly loves. As the woman decides, her lover tells her in his monologue that if she runs away with him their life won’t always be perfect; but he wasn’t offering her happiness, he was offering her love. I was working on this monologue for an audition at my high school and thought that the concept of love isn’t happiness would be a good working title for my album. And it stuck. The title also brought about the song “Love Isn’t Happiness,” which I feel is the most well rounded song on the album because it truly captivates the sub-textual tone of all the songs. I am proud of each song on the album and hope listeners, like me, can gain from the catharsis it provides. I have been writing music for a major portion of my life and feel I progress with each note. This album is a great springboard toward more music in the future. I hope you enjoy it.
