I''m 33 years of age and a few years back I began writing songs. I picked up the guitar my last year in college in 1998 an haven''t put it down since( not for very long anyway). My father, also a self tought musician, had a cat Stevens book of songs along with another chord book that showed the multiple ways of playing chords. From these books I got started.
I hadn''t been the writing type nor had I been even musically gifted. I always played as many sports as possible growing up and hadn''t ever even thought about playing an instrument. My friend and roomate my Senior year had a guitar and had limited ability, but the fact that he could play was impressive to me. I decided to learn.
So, for the next ten years or so it was a nice hobby for me... it was a relationship gone wrong, heartbreak, and a rut with some long introspection that lead me to writing lyrics and creating songs. I ''ve always thought that if you have one chance at life you should try and do what you enjoy.
Music helps break up the grind that could become of you''re everyday...
My wish is that my music can bring some joy, comfort, smiles, and introspection to those who listen.,. while at the same time help myself survive easier. And (with hope) help me to help people that really need it.
