On February 5th, 2010, the Washington DC/Baltimore area was hit by a huge snowstorm- what the weathermen had termed "Snowpocalypse". We got over 30 inches of snow where I live. I had been cooped up in the house for over a week, with the exception of when I got to go out and shovel snow. So in the midst of my stir-craziness, I was overcome to write and record a little ditty about my battles with the snow- Aptly titled "Snowpocalypse". I have a little home studio setiup- a Roland VS-1680- so I programmed the drums, laid down the guitar and bass tracks, and then conjured up my best Kajun James Dio, with a guest appearance by Yngwie Kelley. (This was prior to Ronnie James Dio''s passing, RIP)
My wife gave me a Flip video camera for Christmas. I hadn''t really messed with it much, but when we were snowed in, I broke it out and used it to film the snow storms with the sole intention of sending them to my family. When I was loading them onto my computer, I saw that you could put videos to music. I decided I would use the videos that I''d shot of the snow and use my silly "Snowpocalypse" song as background music, just for my own amusement.
But then I discovered that you could edit pieces together.......and the wheels started turning. So the next morning I woke up on a mission. I spent my whole day shooting little snippets and then edited them together with some of the footage I had shot of the storms. I had WAY too much fun! I was running around like a little kid, shooting video. By myself mind you....hopefully my neighbors didn''t see me shooting some the "outdoor scenes". Embarrassing.
So, I posted the video on YouTube, (https://www.tradebit.com , and the response I got was more than I had expected. Many people have been asking if they could purchase the song, so even though it''s not a "studio quality" recording, I''ve decided to release it as a digital single. Enjoy!
